Kansai’s downtown, Dojima - aptly described as ‘Japan’s New York’ for its water-girded location, where brisk business development and food culture abound.

Since the Middle Ages, Dojima has always played the leading role in the business development nurturing broker and wholesaler organizations. Today, it has emerged as the hub of all the businesses for the Kansai areas.

At a busy corner of Dojima, our patisserie Mon chou chou was started. We have a wish to realize; we hope Mon chou chou sweets will bring smiles to our customers with unforgettable memories on any ordinary day.

Birth

When I first traveled to Europe, I witnessed scenes that I still admire. In every city I visited, people in suit were indulging in a chit-chat at a street café with sweets in their hands.

So enchanted by the people who know ‘how to live a transient moment of joy’, I felt a pretty idea begin forming inside: ‘if a tiny sweet that fits in the palm of a hand brings smiles to people every day, how lovely would that be?’

Two years later, a little wish of having our very first patisserie came true on the commercial streets of Dojima, Osaka.

 
 

What’s Mon chou chou?

Sounding soft and fluffy like milky white whipping cream, Mon chou chou means ‘my favorite’ in French. “How do you use this word in the day to day life?” I asked a French friend of mine. He said, “We say Mon chou chou to our beloved ones, just like the word ‘my honey’!”

Dreaming of a shop that would be cherished by lots of customers every single day, we named our shop “Mon chou chou”. Today, we proudly decorate our shop with an array of our “Mon chou chou” sweets with all our hearts and love, so that customers will dearly call our shop “Mon chou chou”
